8 killed in election violence in eastern India

Supporters of the Communist Party, which governs in West Bengal state, and the Congress Party that heads the federal government, fought battles using guns and rocks on Sunday, the Press Trust of India news agency reported. New Delhi, March 8 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will meet Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad and Janata Dal-United leader Sharad Yadav Tuesday morning over the Women's Reservation Bill, which was blocked in the Rajya Sabha Monday. "The PM will meet Lalu Prasad, Mulayam Singh and Sharad Yadav at 9.30 a.m. Tuesday, before parliament starts the day's business," Congress party sources told IANS. However, party sources said there is no time frame for the all-party meeting, which was proposed earlier.
