Yemen, US agree on sending Yemeni lawyers to Guantanamo

Sana’a : The US ambassador to Yemen Stephen Seche said that the two countries had agreed on sending Yemeni lawyers team to the US-run Guantanamo Bay to meet the Yemeni detainees there. In his meeting with Yemeni journalists on Monday, Seche affirmed that the US supports the Yemeni forces through training and providing required equipments.

Seche confirmed that Yemen’s stability is crucial to fight terrorism not only at the domestic level but also at the regional level.

Seche praised the government’s efforts to fight terrorism, pointing out that Yemen is an important partner in the global war on terrorism.

The American ambassador hailed the democratic process in Yemen, saying that the recent presidential elections is evidence of the strong trend towards democracy.

He expressed his country’s readiness to assist Yemen in fighting militants who try to destabilize security in the country and provide economic aids for development programs especially in the
agricultural and fish fields.
