By TCN News,

New Delhi: The 5-day meet of the Central Advisory Council of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind concluded here today after passing resolutions on various national and international issues including Women Reservation Bill, Ranganath Mishra Commission, sanctions against Iran and Indian government’s action against Naxalism. But the Council skipped the issue of Batla House encounter and false implication of Muslim youths in terror cases.

As the community had intensified the protest demanding judicial probe into the Batla House encounter following the autopsy report – a group of Jamia Nagar residents are sitting on indefinite hunger strike for a week to press the demand – it was expected Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, a leading Muslim organization in the country, will take up the issue and at wider level, also the issue of implication of hundreds of innocent Muslim youths in terror cases in the country – one after another they are being acquitted by the court. But JIH ignored this issue too.

The 9-point resolution passed at the end of the meet rejected the Women Reservation Bill in the present form. JIH reiterated the demand for Muslim reservation by implementing the recommendations of Ranganath Misra Commission — 10% reservation for Muslims and 5% for other minorities. JIH expressed concern on the alarming rise in prices, especially of essential commodities. “This is due to the faulty economic policies of the Government and also due to insufficient and half hearted measures to control the price rise,” the resolution reads.

Central Advisory Council of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind deliberated the issue of naxalism in greater detail.

At No. 3 in the 9-point resolution, is the issue of Naxalism, before Ranganath Misra Commission and Communal Violence Bill issues.

Under the title of Clash of Naxals and the state machinery, the resolution says: The grave situation of widespread clash of the Naxalites with the state machinery constitutes a grave challenge to the country. The measures adopted by the government i.e. operation Green-Hunt and Salwa Judam are not the proper way to deal with the situation; rather the root causes should be identified. The state policies are the major reason for the popular unrest. The large scale operations of foreign companies, introduction of SEZ and allotment of Adivasis land to them are the cause of public apprehension.

JIH has urged the government the government the following steps.

“Hence the state

a) Should take appropriate steps to remove the tribal apprehensions

b) Should make public the details of MOUs signed with foreign companies.

c) Should recognize people’s right to their land and

d) Should not adopt blatantly illegal measures like Salwa Judam. It should not violate human rights.

e) The state should let human rights groups freely work in the affected areas.

JIH has also exhorted “the Maoists to recognize the futility of violent means; they are not permissible. Instead they should adopt the path of peaceful mass struggle including negotiations.”

JIH has also touched issues of Communal Violence Bill, Indo-Pak Relation, Security and Palestine.
