New Delhi: The Academy of Professional Development of Urdu Medium Teachers, Jamia Millia Islamia in collaboration with National Translation Mission, Central Institute of Indian
Languages, Mysore is organizing a 5-Day Workshop on “Preparing Guidelines for Translation in
Urdu.”
The aim of the workshop is to disseminate knowledge about theories, practices and methods
related to translation in Urdu so that those wishing to embark on a career of translation in Urdu would have some defining principles and guidelines which can inform their work.
The workshop is scheduled to be from August 23-27, 2010 in the Conference Hall of Institute of
Advanced Studies in Education, Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia.
The inaugural function of the workshop was held on August 23, 2010 where the welcome address was delivered by Prof. Ghazanfar Ali, Director, Academy of Professional Development of Urdu Medium Teachers, while Dr. G Vijyasarathi, Coordinator, National Translation Mission, Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore delivered the Introductory Remarks.

Islamia was the Chief Guest on the occasion and Prof Abul Kalam Quasami, Aligarh Muslim University delivered the presidential address. The Keynote address was delivered by Prof. A.R.
Fatihi, Director, CCSIL, Aligarh Muslim University.
