Kozhikode: The Muslim League has decided to relieve the heads of local bodies of important and high posts in the party. The decision was taken in the party secretariat held last day to analyse the party’s victory in the local body polls.
Those party members who have been elected as president, vice-president, chairman and vice-chairman in village, block and district panchayats, municipalities and corporations will be removed from high positions in the party, said Muslim League general secretary PK Kunhalikkutty after the secretariat meeting. The decision would be implemented in December itself. The decision was taken so as to give the representatives more time for serving people. The policy would be applicable to the party’s MLAs also after the Assembly elections. However, he added that, the case of MPs and Union Ministers should be taken by the central leadership.
The new decision of the Muslim League leadership will affect most in Malappuram district, according to reports. Around 10 leaders in the district are holding high posts in the party and administration. Kozhikode and Kasargode districts will also be affected. Several leaders holding high positions in the party are also serving as presidents of banks etc.
