Muslims should continue their fight for justice: Ajit Sahi

Madurai (Tamil Nadu): Senior journalist and Tehelka magazine executive editor Ajit Sahi, who wrote a series of articles exposing implication of innocent youths in terror cases branding them as SIMI members, has urged the Muslims not to get disappointed rather to fight for justice with due determination.

“Muslims were not given right share in any area. Also there is a bias against them in the government administration and they are looked as terrorists. But I suggest that Muslims should not be afraid of this and should fight for justice. The Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) is a role model of Muslims, who was determined to fight for justice,” said Ajit Sahi addressing a Popular Front of India conference in Madurai, Tamil Nadu today.

A two-day (20-21Feb.) state level program of Tamil Nadu unit of Popular Front of India (PFI) to discuss several issues started today at Tipu Sultan ground, Vandiyoor Ring Road, Madurai. The conference was inaugurated with the prayer of Abdul Kader Muneeri, state president of All India Imams Council, which followed by PFI flag hoisting by Tamil Nadu PFI president M. Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

Later, a seminar on “Empowerment: Challenges and Prospects” was held at VP Singh Hall, Gupta Auditorium, Anna Nagar, Madurai.

Presiding over the seminar PFI general secretary, Mr. K.M sherif opined: “After Mandal Commission report, Dalits and other backward class people empowered themselves, except Muslims. Those who worked for empowerment and social justice were labeled as terrorists and subjected to brutalities by the Govt. administration. But the sacrifices for this cause will be a good investment for a better future.”

At the seminar the theme paper of the seminar was presented by the State PFI treasurer M. Mohammad Ismail. Besides, many others presented their papers on different topics including Professor S.A.R Jeelani of Delhi University on “How Media manufacture terrorists”, Professor .A.Marxr ,Human Rights activist, on “Minority rights and discrimination”, Advocate T.Lajapathy Roy ,president of National confederation of Human Rights organization, on Various faces of terrorism”, S.M Rafiq Ahamed, SDPI state treasurer, on “Political representation and democracy”.

An exhibition to give the reflection of memories of history and present day events was also opened at 3.00pm in Sirajud Daula Hall, Star Park Hall, Anna Nagar, Madurai. The history of caliphs, Abbasias, history of Muslims who were masters of inventions and their contribution to new research, beginning of Islam in India, the Ghazni, the Ghori, the Mughal rule till the freedom struggle movement and the role of Muslims in leading the freedom struggle movement, the communal riots against Muslims, the partiality, double standard were tried to be shown in the form of flex and art works at the exhibition.
