Women’s role key in empowering the community: National Women’s Front

Madurai (Tamil Nadu): “Women constitute around 50% of the population and hence their part in empowering the community is very essential. Our Prophet (PBUH) included women in all areas of community empowerment. Hence we also should follow this,” Ms. S. Fathima Gani, Tamil Nadu state president of National Women’s Front, the women’s wing of Popular Front of India.

Ms Gani was speaking at a seminar on ‘Women for Social Empowerment’ held on February 21, the second day of two-day statewide program of Popular Front of India (PFI) Tamil Nadu unit at Hazrath Begum Hall in Madurai.

Ms. Gani said: “Women constitute around 50% of the population and hence their part in empowering the community is very essential. The Sachar Committee has shown the actual fact of our community. Our Prophet (PBUH) has included women in all the areas of community empowerment. Hence we also should follow this and should be prepared to give any sacrifice for this cause.”

National Women’s Front president Ms. Zainab, National Executive Council member Ms. Jareena, Sate Vice president Ms. Aysha Siddiqa, Social activist Ms. Santhi gave the special speech. PFI chairman Mr. E.M Abdur Rahman, general secretary Mr. K.M Sheriff, state president Mr. Mohamed Ali Jinnah also addressed the seminar.

Later, a massive rally was flagged off at Syed Ahamad Shaheed Gate, Madurai which was participated by PFI activists, common people and Ulema in large number. The rally was welcomed and served water all through the routes by local people. Besides raising slogans, participants were holding placards describing anguish against Fascism, Gujarat riots, double standards, capitalism, fake encounters, America-Israel terror, and demolition of Babri Masjid etc. The rally after visiting many areas reached the Shaheed Tipu Sultan Ground, Madurai where a grand public meeting was held.
