Kashmir crisis not because of bad governance: Omar Abdullah

Srinagar: Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah has spoken for the first time after violence erupted in the Kashmir Valley. He said that anti-national forces and vested interests are together creating trouble.

He said that emotional and vulnerable youth are being exploited by the vested interests.

Terming the deaths of civilians as extremely unfortunate, he said that the current situation is not a simple law and order matter.

“Kashmir crisis not because of bad governance,” said Omar.

Omar appeals to people of valley by not violate the curfew.

While in news conference at his Srinagar residence he ensured that normalcy will return soon to the valley, if people obey the curfew and maintain law and order.

“Being a father, I can feel the pain of those parents who have lost their child, I appeal all of the parents to counsel their children to don’t go outside their homes during the violence or in curfew and don’t indulge themselves in anti-national activities,” said Omar.

He also appealed the senior citizens and religious preachers to spread the message of peace and help to bring normalcy in the affected areas particularly north and south regions of Kashmir.

Omar said, our government will do everything needed to maintain peace and calm.

He cleared that government has directed security forces to use minimum forces to impose curfew and to control the situation without harming local people.

He said we will take all necessary measures to restrain the disturbance to those areas which are in tensions.

While defending his government Omar said that it takes two hands to clap.
We have seen locals beating mercilessly the uniformed personnel so in retaliation these things could happen, he added.

According to Agence India Press correspondent Chief Minister used an appeal for peace to defend his government, saying the violence was not a result of bad governance but that of anti-national forces and vested interests coming together.

The last few days have seen the death of several young people, including a nine-year-old boy on Monday, as protesters have clashed with security forces.
