Patna : Hoping to return to power in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to launch his election campaign for the state assembly elections Friday, said to be an auspicious day for Hindus.
The campaign will start with the slogan ‘Phir Ek Baar, Nitish Kumar’ (Once again, Nitish Kumar), Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leaders said.
The JD-U is contesting from 141 seats and its ally the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from 102. The Bihar assembly has 243 seats.
“Nitish Kumar will kickstart the campaign from Madhepura district Friday, the day of Kalash Asthapan during Navratra,” a JD-U leader told IANS.
The campaign will continue till the six-phase election ends Nov 20.
Nitish Kumar, the star campaigner of JD-U, will address 29 public meetings in the first phase of polls for 47 constituencies.
“He is likely to address four or five public meetings every day,” another senior JD-U leader told IANS.
The Bihar polls start Oct 21. The results will be declared Nov 24.
