“We will be able to resume normal production much earlier than expected,” said Hiroshi Nakagawa, managing director, Toyota Kirloskar Motors.

According to Nakagawa, the company’s immediate priority would be to reduce the backlog of placed orders.

“Our focus is to reduce the backlog and jointly work with our vendors to minimise delivery delays.”

The company said its factories in the southern state of Karnataka would function on all weekdays and on some non-working Saturdays as well.

Earlier, the company had suspended production on Mondays and Fridays between April 25 and June 4, due to the component supply constraint.

Meanwhile, the company said that compact version of its entry level sedan Etios which is to be launched in June, is on track and not affected by the restricted production levels.

“We are now all set to launch the Etios Liva. The launch will be as per schedule in the last week of June,” said Sandeep Singh, deputy managing director, marketing.
