In a statement issued in response to Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, Abubacker said that killing of innocent Palestinians in such a manner is blatant violation of fundamental humanitarian principles. International community’s silence on such incidents is disturbing.

The statement said that Israeli air attacks in Gaza has targetted not only the Hamas leadership but also innocent civilians. Israeli threats of a ground offensive against Gaza are even more disturbing. SDPI is also deeply concerned that an escalation in the violence could lead to a spreading of the conflict to engulf the region. It considers the Israeli action as a grave violation of international law and all humanitarian norms, the statement added.

Abubacker has urged the Indian government to mobilize diplomatic effort on urgent basis to play its role in stopping the potential genocide of Palestinian Muslims. He also urged local and international human rights organizations to fight against the atrocities on the Palestinian community. He warned that continued attacks on Palestine will fuel hatred both locally and internationally. He urged the international community to pressurize the Israeli government to take urgent measures for ending the massacre of Palestinians.

“We call upon the UN and the international community to condemn this act of aggression and call for a halt in Israel’s murderous action”, Abubacker added.
