A new school to teach Islam and science in Mumbai

Mumbai: A Muslim trust is starting a new ‘English school’ from the next academic year in Mumbai to blend and impart “contemporary school subjects along with Shariah knowledge.”

Mumbai based Hazrat Bilal Educational Trust is starting a new Bilal English School from the coming year at the city’s Grant Road.

The Inauguration programme of the School was held in Mumbai today and was attended by many Muslim educationists and ullemas.

In primary classes the school will function as co-educational, while the girls and boys will study separately in the higher classes. The school will be affiliated to the secondary school certificate (SSC) board.

In the inauguration programme Director in Chief of the school, Maulana Abdur Rahman Qasmi, revealed that their objective behind this school is to acquaint students with the Islamic wisdom alongside contemporary subjects.

Chief Guest of the Programme, Dr. Mahmoodur Rahman (Retired IAS officer and Ex-Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University) applauded setting up of such schools. He added, “Such schools are the need of the hour as this will help to raise the bar and quality of the educated class, which in turn will be beneficial for the Muslim community and the society in general.”

Maulana Mustaqeem Ahsan Azmi, President Jameat Ulama Maharashta, said, “Such schools provide platform for Muslim and their children to be an Islamic theology scholar and a competent engineer, doctor, scientist simultaneously.”

Guest from Turkey Bilal Ackignoz, Director of Indialogue Foundation was also present on the occasion and expressed his happiness.
