New Delhi: A workshop on Women Safety was organized by the National Women’s Front today at the India Islamic Cultural Center in New Delhi.
A lecture on the violence on women and how to resolve it was given by Prof Haseena Hasiya. In her lecture she told that “a vigilant woman can plays a vital role to stop the violence against women. Steps to reform the society should start from the home or family and the initiative should be taken by the women”.
“Severe laws will prevent the violence against women but in reality the change in mind set of the society will alone make the world a safe place for women to live,” Prof Haseena added.
Latter a discussion took place in the context of the recent rape incident in Delhi and the violence against women in during riots in Delhi (1984),Bagalphur (1989), Gujarat (2002), Orissa(2008) etc,.
A participant from Mullah Colony of New Delhi Aysha told that “the main reason behind the recent rape incident in December 2012 was alcohol, but no one stressed on the probation of alcohol which lead for this heinous crime. A stop this kind of violence we should work on awareness campaign against alcohol.”
NWF is active in many states in India such as Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala were it is working for the “empowerment of women through various campaigns of awareness among the masses.”
NWF plans to build a strong members campaign in coming days in Delhi work on all the issue for and against the women to empower them because Empowerment of women will empower the nation.
