BJP MLA has been accused of inciting Jats during the September riots in Muzaffarnagar.

Earlier UP government had stalled the Rihai Manch programme of Monday where it had planned to broadcast the videos of ‘hate speech’ given by Sangeet Som at a Mahapanchayat.

Rihai Manch has also accused the SP government of trying to ‘buy off’ the riot victims in the name of giving Rs 5 lakh compensation, and alleged that in lieu of compensation the government is forcing riot victims to sign an affidavit and coercing them to take back cases.

It said that despite direct evidence against several BJP and Jat leaders, the government has failed to take actions and most of them are still at large.

Communal riots in Muzaffarnagar and neighbouring areas of Shamli and Meerut had left 65 people dead between Sep 6 and 10. More than 43,000 people were rendered homeless and many of them have refused to go back home, citing the possibility of revenge attacks.
