Twelve youth participated in the rally from start to finish, whereas around 20 people accompanied the caravan for 2 to 3 days and there were equal number of participants for a day. During the 6 days’ march, around 40 meetings were held; in two of these, more than 1000 people participated.

Khudai Khidmatgar, the force behind the march, is of the view that without active involvement of the people-at-large, i.e., in the absence of strong societal movements, it is not possible to build a just and democratic society. We have to first change ourselves; we need to get organised, take local initiatives and participate in societal affairs, develop linkages with the national and international movements – and then only we can hope to change the society for the better.

“We understand that there is no force stronger than the idea that catches the imagination of the people. The history is witness that even the worst dictators did not last long and the tide of progressive humanity swept them away,” a statement by Khudai Khidmatgar read.
