Anfar Foundation distributes food packets on Ramadan in Assam

Guwahati: Anfar Foundation, a Hojai based development organization in Assam in partnership with Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) reached out to 18,064 peoples in three districts of Nagaon, Morigaon and Sonitpur districts with Ramadan food packs.

Nurjamal Sarkar, former minister of the state also participated in the distribution program on at Biswanath Ghat in Sonitpur district recently.

Every year during the month of Ramadan, IRW through its partners reached out to poor and needy families irrespective of caste, creed and religion with food packs across the globe. During Ramadan, Muslims are encouraged to be particularly charitable.

Feeding people at the end of the fasting day represents a very rewarding spiritual act according to Islamic tradition and teachings. The support ensures food security especially during the month of Ramadan.

Around 3,000 families which include person with disability (PWD), Women Headed Household, Aged, Pregnant and Lactating mother were especially targeted. The food packs contains Rice, Dal, Chick Peas, Sugar, Dates and Edible Oil.

Besides, they have also distributed food packages to the poor people in these areas barring their caste and religion. “Not just Muslims, we have also distributed food stuff to the poor people living in these areas. We hope the poor people can observe the Ramadan without much difficulty,” said Abdul Hasib of Anfar Foundation.
