‘Maulana Azad Forum for Creative Thought’ launched at MANUU

Hyderabad: ‘Maulana Azad Forum for Creative Thought’ was launched at the Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) to encourage students and provide them with a platform for co-curricular developmental activities.

The Forum was launched by the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Chair on November 19.

AK Mohanty, IPS, Advisor to Governor of Telangana, advised the students to model themselves on the principles of honesty, responsibility and self denial toward the cause of general welfare, a release said here today.

Prof Hameed Khan, director, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Chair, in his speech spoke on personality and relevance of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and expressed his appreciation that MANUU was serving the twin causes of reviving the value points of Indian history and working for the development of Urdu.

Dr Khwaja Md Shahid, Pro Vice Chancellor, also appreciated the objectives of the Forum and expressed his confidence that the Forum would add special dimensions to the students’ live on the campus.

A play in English, presented by students of Department of English, depicting scenes from Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s work India Wins Freedom was staged on the occasion. Two presentations related to student activities at the campus were also made. One was the release of ‘Samved’ (Delhi), a journal in Hindi where the full issue consisted of articles written by students of MANUU and the second presentation was regarding ‘Justajoo’, a students’ Wall Magazine.

Mir Ayoob Ali Khan, Senior Consultant, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Chair and Prof Amina Kishore, Professor, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Chair also addressed the gathering on the occasion, the release added.

Chief Guest for the programme was Prof Hameed Khan, Director, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Chair, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, while AK Mohanty, IPS, Advisor to Governor of Telangana was the Guest of Honour. Dr Khwaja Md Shahid, Pro Vice Chancellor presided over the function.
