New Delhi: Expressing apprehension over the delay in implementing the minority welfare schemes, MP E Ahmad from the Indian Union Muslim League has called for stringent steps to bring the minorities into the mainstream.
“The representation provided for the Muslims in development initiatives is meagre to meet their requirements. When it comes to such calculations, corporates are given top priority than the minorities. This tendency is posing threat to the social and financial balance of the country,” Ahmed said in the Lok Sabha here.
He was speaking on Thursday, February 26 while participating in the discussion over the motion of thanks to the address by President of India.

Ahmed went on to say that the Union Government should keep an eye on the corporate powers to avert the possible sabotage of the welfare projects by the corporate sector. The laxity of the government in addressing the shortage of representation in government employment sector also drew heavy criticism from the IUML national leader.
Fighting back against the anti-minority propaganda, which comes forth to the political scenarios, Ahmed said that none can ignore the emotions of Muslims in the country (as) they are an inevitable part of the population and second in the total Muslim population in the world.
“There are no productive measures taken up to encourage the Arabic and Urdu languages. While drafting the school and college syllabus the authorities concerned are turning a blind eye towards the contributions of the minorities,” he said.
Ahmed, however, was all praise about the assurance, given by the President that all sects will be provided with due representation in the development initiatives being taken up by the government.
He also heavily criticised the recent controversial statements by the RSS leader Mohan Bhagwat, levelled against Mother Teresa, terming it as planned attacks against the Christian community.
