Valley based Trust to hold ‘Youth Icon awards-2015’ for first time in J&K

Jammu and Kashmir Innovators forum’s aim is to recognize the ‘unappreciated’ heroes of J&K.

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Innovators forum (JKIF), a state based NGO, is going to organize an event “JKIF Youth Icon awards-2015” to identify and felicitate unsung heroes of the state.

In a statement, Innovators Forum head Engineer Idrees-ul-Haq said that the idea behind organizing this event is to identify and felicitate the youth whose efforts have had an overwhelming impact on the society.

“It is about throwing light on something good within our society which may inspire our youth and attract them to follow the path leading to a society whose members are full of confidence with a well-defined goal,” he said, adding that this program is first of its kind to be held in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

“There are 10 award categories viz Law, Sports, Medical, Journalism, Innovation, Engineering, Art and culture, Entrepreneurship, Social Work, Education in ‘JKIF Youth Icon Awards 2015’, for which nominations are sought from general public and decision will be made by votes through social media/SMS or WhatsApp messages and panel decision,” said the Idrees Ul Haq.

He informed that any permanent resident of J&K, of age 18 to 30 years, who may be a student, an engineer, a doctor, a social activist, an artist, an innovator, an entrepreneur, a journalist, an artist, a sports person or related to any other field can be nominated for the award either by himself or through any citizen of the state through Email at [email protected].

The last date for filling nomination was earlier May 17, which was later extended to May 24 after repeated requests from respective quarters. The event is supposed to take place in the month of June, 2015 for which date is yet to be finalised.

JKIF, registered as a subsidiary for SRVES (Social Royal Voluntary Environmental Service), has organized several successful State level programmes in the past. SRVES is a registered state wide trust which aims to provide impetus to the young minds, who lack the infrastructure and right platform, & are at a verge of dissemination to other fellow countries.
