Family Fest 2015 held by India Fraternity Forum

Al Khobar (Saudi Arabia): A colorful event ‘Family Fest 2015’ (Festival for Friendship) was organized by the India Fraternity Forum (IFF) comprising diverse fun filled programmes, competitions and events for kids and ladies in addition to Galleries and displays.

The programme that was held on Friday, May 22, started with recitation of Quran by Master Afaq and Abdul Raqeeb, followed by an inaugural speech by Wasim Sadiq Ali, president Indian Social Forum, who highlighted the present political scenario in India and the need for an active role in politics by Muslims of India and promote positive politics and reject the theme of negative politics, a release from the IFF said.

President of WAMY – Eastern Province – held the Raffle draw, which was followed by a number of events and competitions. As the event was held in ‘Al Luluaa Recreation Center’ and due to its close proximity to Khobar and Dammam, bulk of the Indian community participated in the event.

The event was celebrated with much fervor and enthusiasm. The children participated in several competitions arranged for them. The families took time out of the routine to enjoy and meet the community and enjoyed every bit of the event.

The event also hosted a food court with cuisines from different parts of India and several stalls with various merchandize was offered for purchase at reasonable prices. Food court had food outlets for Hyderabadi Biryani, Pani Puri, India blend Chinese cuisine etc.; indoor stalls had clothes, pearls from city of Hyderabad and other accessories. The main attraction of the event was the Raffle Draws, which were sponsored by several businesses, where gold coins, free gold and diamond vouchers and home appliances were disbursed, the release said.

Women Fraternity Forum (WFF) volunteers managed the ladies and young girls’ indoor games in separate section. Urooj Azeem, president of Women Fraternity Forum said that ladies and girls were excited to participate in musical chair, table topic, memory game and other games. Azeem stressed the role of women in molding the society as mother, wife and teacher hence women’s keeping fit physical and mentally equally important.

Participants in games were as young as 10 years to as old as 60+ years. According to Sayeed Ahmed, president, India Fraternity Forum, Urdu chapter, Women Fraternity Forum members prepared detail plan from the beginning to end that was related to women’s game and activities.

The event also comprised key note address by Abdul Hakim Khan, who enlightened the community on the activities of India Fraternity Forum. He said that IFF stands above the rest by epitomizing the diversities of Indian culture.

The Forum that has been active here for the past decade acts as a link that bonds together the pluralistic mass from different states working at different levels. The Forum is in the path of social welfare and relief service activities, and it stands prepared to help those in the lower stratum of the society, round the clock.

He also stressed that social, political and economic situations prevailing in India demand active participation of every Indian to uphold the basic spirit of India i.e. ‘Unity in Diversity’ and safeguard democracy, socialism and secularism assured by the constitution of India.

The final part of the event included a play which was a parody on the Beef ban in the Maharashtra and a message for the youth on the evils of dowry. The programme concluded by prize distribution to the winners of the competitions and a vote of thanks by Sayeed Ahmed, president India Fraternity Forum, Urdu Chapter, it said.

The event concluded with the Indian National Anthem, the release added.
