Expressing Union government’s opposition to the practice of triple talaq in Muslims, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said during a ‘Maha Parivartan’ rally in Mahoba of western Uttar Pradesh that he would not let suffer Muslim women because of Triple Talaq practice..
However, Modi’s ‘call for justice’ to Muslim women apparently backfired when a petition surfaced on Change.Org next day demanding Justice for Jashodaben, wife of Narendra Modi.
Being a full time RSS pracharak, Modi did not live with his wife after marriage. The couple lived together for 3 months, after which Modi left home to travel across India, journeying as a ‘sanyasi’, as he described it to his family. After a period of three years, Modi stopped visiting his wife and family, as he got involved in his work as a RSS pracharak.
In response to Modi’s urging of abolishing triple talaq practice and provide justice to Muslim ‘sisters’, as he spoke during the rally, the petition was created to deliver justice to his own wife, whom he has abandoned or left visiting her. The petition reads, “Mr. Prime Minister, why don’t you first practice what you preach, and put your house in order, before giving hollow speeches to trump up communal discord in the country?”
The petition, addressed to PMO, has gained over 4,000 signatures and the number is still increasing.
It accuses Modi of depriving Jashodaben of her rights. “Not only have you deprived Jashodaben, the rights of a wife, you have also deprived her of the rights, which she as a citizen of this country deserves,” said petition.
The petition does not stop at Jashodaben but also moves to ‘Madhuri’, fictitious name for the lady which Modi and Amit Shah, as the then Ministers in Gujarat, allegedly stalked using state machinery.
It accuses Modi of destroying the life of a girl as, “… you also ruined the life of a young girl, from Ahmedabad in Gujarat, who was tailed, stalked, taped, tracked, snooped, spied upon by dozens of Gujarat state police, Crime Branch police, State Intelligence Bureau officials, Anti-Terrorism Squad, which was done under the instructions of the then State Minister of Home Amit Shah for his ‘Saheb’, who turned out to be none other than you.”
A similar trend was also floated by twitterattis to counter Modi’s jibe over triple talaq with the hashtaq #JusticeForJasodaben
