The BCCI sent the suspension letter via email after the IPL final and the presentation ceremony were over just after Sunday midnight.

The board’s top brass made up its mind very early in the day to sack Modi if he does not attend the GC meeting Monday.

Modi, however, sprang a surprise hours before the IPL final – won by Chennai Super Kings, owned by the controversial BCCI secretary N. Srinivasan – by himself calling the GC meeting. The agenda would be a discussion on any complaints received in writing with documentary proof from members of the GC against the chairman and any other member, he said.
