Johannesburg : The first football World Cup on African soil was kicked off Friday by a colourful African-themed ceremony.
The championship’s 19th edition since 1930 started two hours before hosts South Africa and Mexico were to face off in the opening game at Johannesburg’s Soccer City stadium.
