New Delhi: High humidity levels and an increase in temperature made Delhiites literally sweat it out Wednesday. Weather officials said it could be hotter Thursday, though the city may see a partly cloudy sky.
The maximum temperature was 36.8 degress Celsius, two notches above the average for this time of the year and also two notches more than Tuesday’s maximum, an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The minimum temperature remained at the average 27.4 degrees Celsius as against 23.2 degrees Celsius Tuesday.
“The humidity level oscillated between a high of 83 percent and a low of 48 percent,” the official added.
On Tuesday, the humidity touched 100 percent for the first time in the season.
The Met office, meanwhile, predicted a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of “thundery development” Thursday.
“The maximum and minimum temperature is also expected to rise and hover around 38 and 28 degrees Celsius respectively,” the weather official said.
