Kolkata : East Bengal continued their winning ways in the Kolkata Premier League with a polished 2-0 victory over Eastern Railways here Friday.
Tied goalless till the break, Edmilson opened the scoring from the penalty spot 24 minutes into the second half after being brought down inside the box.
Dipendu Biswas also sealed the victory five minutes from the end with a fine solo effort.
The game was disrupted for six minutes in the second half as the spectators started throwing stones after Abhra Mandal of East Bengal and Benjamin of Eastern Railways were sent off after coming to exchanging blows in the pitch.
Eastern Railway’s ploy of overcrowding the defence worked well in the first half but after they went into arrears, it was East Bengal all over. At the other end, the East Bengal defence had an easy game as their opponents were too intent on keeping the margin down.
