Dubai : Indian expatriates in the UAE celebrated India’s 60th Independence Day by unfurling the tricolour, organising cultural events and distributing sweets.
The Indian Ambassador to the UAE Talmiz Ahmad hoisted the national flag Wednesday at the Indian mission in Abu Dhabi – an event attended by around 300 people, the Khaleej Times reported.

“I recall the great efforts made by Indians in the UAE. Indians have made tremendous contributions in UAE’s development. We have toiled in the construction of buildings, roads and flyovers and participated in the setting up of different productions units,” Ahmad said.
