Muslim world league to coordinate efforts to preserves Islamic identity

Riyadh : The supreme authority for coordination of Islamic organisations holds its first session in Mecca on Saturday with the focus on Islamic presentation plans and preserving the Islamic identity.

Muslim World League (MWL) Secretary-General Abdullah al-Turki, who is expected to preside over the meetings, said the authority’s council intended to draw up plans to achieve integration and coordination of actions and work of Islamic institutions and organisations worldwide.

In a statement here Wednesday, he said the council members would focus on plans and work programmes pertaining to Islamic presentation and preserving the Islamic identity.

He said joint actions and unified stances would be adopted on significant issues and on highlighting the human and civilised Islamic values and to erase the distorted and misleading propaganda of true Islam.

Turki said the council members would be expected to work on enhancement of civilised contact between Muslim and non-Muslim nations.
