Dubai : Each England team player was fined Saturday 15 percent of his match fee and skipper Paul Collingwood 50 percent for slow over rate in their nine-run defeat to India in Bristol.
Announcing the fines here Saturday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said England bowled three overs short in the time stipulated for 50 overs when India batted first after winning the toss in the day-night encounter.
“Collingwood, found guilty of code of conduct breach, (has been) fined 50 percent of match fee after his side bowled three overs short of target against India,” ICC said in a statement.
“The other players are each fined five percent of their match fees for every over they failed to bowl in the time allowed and so Collingwood’s team mates are each 15 percent out of pocket following the match.”
Former Sri Lanka player Roshan Mahanama, who is the ICC match referee for the seven-match series, imposed the fines after the two on-field match officials and the third umpire laid the charge.
Collingwood pleaded guilty to that charge in the hearing that took place after the match, said ICC.
The hearing was attended by Collingwood, England team operations manager Phil Neale, England coach Peter Moores and the four umpires on duty for the match – on-field officials Billy Doctrove and Ian Gould, third umpire Nigel Llong and fourth official Peter Hartley.
