Istanbul : Ten Kurdish rebels and two Turkish soldiers were killed in fighting in south-east Turkey, the semi-official Anadolu news agency reported Saturday.
Anadolu reported that the soldiers came under fire from Kurdish Workers’ Party (PKK) rebels when they were patrolling a district of the south-eastern province of Sirnak. Operations in the area were continuing.
More than 32,000 people, mainly Kurdish civilians, have been killed since the PKK launched its fight for independence or autonomy for the mainly Kurdish-populated southeast.
