Washington : US President George W. Bush has confirmed his refusal to even think of reducing the troops in Iraq since they have done well this year.
In his Saturday radio address, Bush backed the viability of increasing the ranks by 30,000 as he announced early on 2007, claiming that the plan needs more time to mature.
The media calls crucial Bush’s efforts prior to the September 15 report to Congress by US Commander in Iraq David Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker.
Both will back the White House on the need to keep the 160,000 troops in Iraq beyond 2008 and despite the 3,725 soldier killed.
However, Sen. John Warner (R.-VA.), that enjoys broad respect from Defense ranks, called for gradual withdrawal from September 15 to warn the Iraqis that the US troops will not stay for ever.
Intelligence reports also warn of declining security in Iraq and potential increase of sectarian violence along the local government incapacity to control the insurgence.
