Mumbai : At least three people were killed and 10 injured when a part of a 50-year-old building collapsed here in the early hours of Monday.
The rear portion of the four storey-building in Dongri area in south-central Mumbai caved in leading to three fatalities, police and fire brigade officials said.
The deceased were identified as Mohammed Salim Babu Khan, 19, Salman Pappu Khan, 15 and Mohammed Nokin Khan, 18.
The injured were admitted to the government-run Sir J.J. Hospital.
Firemen and medics were continuing rescue operations. The debris was still being cleared late in the afternoon.
Monday’s incident was the fifth building collapse in Mumbai since July. On Aug 18, five people including three children were killed and two injured when a 100-year-old building in the Grant Road area caved in.
