Islamabad : Turkish President Abdullah Gul has said his country wanted economic and political stability in Pakistan and expressed the hope the country would come out of the present political crisis.
In his separate meetings Monday with political leaders, including former prime ministers Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif who called on him here, Gul was apprised of political scenario in Pakistan, where President Pervez Musharraf imposed emergency Nov 3.
The opposition leaders also spoke to Gul about their reservations against government policies, curbs on the judiciary, and reasons behind the boycott of the Jan 8 elections, The News daily said Tuesday.
The Turkish president said he knew that Pakistan was passing through a critical phase of its political history and hoped that the political leadership would pull the country out of this crisis.
