Chandigarh : The ruling Congress in Haryana has sent a report on the anti-party activities of former chief minister Bhajan Lal and his son Kuldip Bishnoi, who is a member of parliament, to the Congress high command in Delhi for necessary action.

The report follows the recent rally by Bhajan Lal and Bishnoi in Rohtak – the hometown of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda – where they announced the formation of a new political party, the Haryana Janhit Congress (BL), in the presence of a big gathering of supporters.

State Congress president Phool Chand Mullana Friday confirmed that the report had been sent to the party high command for further action. “How can they be members of two political parties? They have still not resigned from the Congress. I have no communication from them,” Mullana told reporters here.

While Lal is a sitting Congress legislator, Bishnoi is a Lok Sabha member from Bhiwani. Bishnoi was suspended from the Congress earlier this year for being critical of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and the Hooda government.

Though the duo floated the new political party, they have not quit the Congress and both are expecting to be expelied from the party.

Bishnoi, who is the president of the new party, last Sunday announced that he will quit his Lok Sabha seat effective June 1 next year.

Hooda Friday lashed out at the newly formed Haryana Janhit Congress (BL) and said that the people of Haryana have in the past rejected regional parties as they had no policy and could not last long. “These parties have vested interests and are narrow-minded,” Hooda pointed out.

Hooda had pipped Lal to the post of chief minister March 2005 after he led the Congress to its biggest victory in assembly polls.

Lal, since then, has been consistently been sidelined in the ruling Congress with some leaders openly criticizing him and daring him to quit the party and contest elections to check his popularity.
