Defence Minister A.K. Antony, Defence Secretary Vijay Singh, and the IAF chief, Air Chief Marshal Fali Homi Major, will be among those who will witness the demonstration of “the IAF’s preparedness and ability to deliver the lethal punch”, an official release said.

During the display, the Sukhoi Su-30, MiG-27, Mirage 2000 and MiG-21 combat aircraft as also attack helicopters and armed helicopters would display their ground attack capabilities by destroying ‘enemy’ targets like radar and fuel installations and rail yards.

The Su-30 would also display its air defence capability in performing combat air patrols.

“A unique feature of the display would be a demonstration of the carpet-bombing capability of AN-32 aircraft, otherwise the workhorse of the IAF transport fleet,” the release said.

Over 50 aircraft comprising fighters, transports, helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) would take part in the display.

After witnessing the display, Antony will visit the Air Force Station Jaisalmer to interact with IAF personnel and their families.

He will also pay homage at the Vijay Stamb memorial raised in memory of all those who laid their lives in the battle of Longewala during the 1971 war with Pakistan.
