Musharraf says all political parties will be given equal chance

Islamabad : President Pervez Musharraf says he would not support any political party or politician in the January 8 parliamentary elections, stressing that all the political parties would be given an equal chance.

In an interview with CNN, he said that emergency would be lifted next week.

The president said that after the lifting of emergency, the situation would be much better, thus, hinting at an end to the prevailing political turmoil.

Emergency will be lifted on December 15, the Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO) be revoked and the Constitution would be revived, Musharraf said.

Foreign observers are welcome to monitor the upcoming election, he said.
