UAE team arrives in Kabul to oversee humanitarian works

Kabul : A delegation of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has arrived here to oversee the distribution of humanitarian aid in the strife-torn country, WAM news agency reported Monday.

The RCA is the UAE’s national, humanitarian and voluntary authority that provides aid and assistance to the needy in the world.

Upon his arrival here Sunday, Abdullah Ali Al Hosani, the head of the RCA delegation, said the team would monitor the distribution of humanitarian aid and also check preparations for inauguration of Sheikh Zayed City in Kabul, he said.

The $4 million city was built at the directives of the late president of UAE Sheikh Zayed Ben Sultan Al Nahayan. Plots will be allocated to needy Afghani people, the official said.

He also said during its stay in Afghanistan, the team would inspect a number of housing, medical and educational projects implemented by RCA.
