“Yes, I know things are not that smooth with differences of opinion between ministers getting highlighted. You are also doing your part very well in this,” the chief minister told the media after the weekly cabinet meeting here.

He expressed confidence that things would be sorted out: “We are seized of the issues and things would become normal soon.”

Trouble has been brewing between the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) on various fronts.

Finance Minister Thomas Isaac, who belongs to the CPI-M, and his colleagues in the CPI, Food and Civil Supplies Minister C. Divakaran and Agriculture Minister Mulakara Ratnakaran, have been in a war of words for some time.

The two CPI ministers have come under attack for their inefficiency and blame Isaac, who they say has not let their programmes be implemented.

Divakaran recently wrote to Isaac demanding relaxation of rules and regulations, and saying that the finance department should not act tough.

Devasom Minister G. Sudhakaran of the CPI-M also has been in conflict with two members of the Travancore Devasom Board, which runs the affairs of the famed Sabarimala temple — P. Narayanan of the CPI and Sumathykutty Amma of the Revolutionary Socialist Party.

According to Sudhakaran, they are corrupt and must resign from office.
