Abu Dhabi : The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has said its human resource development strategy aims at setting up a national pool of highly skilled and qualified workforce to capitalise on fast moving technological progress in building the country’s economy.
“Technical and vocational education ranked high among the UAE leadership’s priorities. We seek out to improve the quality of education system to a world-class level,” Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said.
“The human resource development and education strategy is equipped to do this,” the crown prince was quoted by WAM news agency as saying.
Al Nahyan, who is deputy supreme commander of the UAE armed forces, made these remarks Monday while addressing the UAE team that returned after taking part in the World Skills Olympics held in Japan last month.
The team finished second in nursing skills competition, winning three silver medals. Singapore and Holland also participated in the event.
The World Skills Olympics is held every two years and 48 countries participated this year.
