Gulf Countries support Yemen with $48 million to combat malaria

Sana’a : A source in the Ministry of Public Health and Population confirmed that the ministry has received a message from the executive bureau of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) agreeing on Yemen’s plan on combating malaria and support estimated at $48 million.

The source clarified that Yemen works with joint committees for combating malaria in border areas with Saudi Arabia, which supported Yemen during the year 2007 with SR 6 million in addition to a number of equipment required for this issue.

The source added that Yemen has achieved some success in combating malaria and could reduce disease cases from 2 million to 500 thousand annually.
