Panchkula (Haryana) : Mumbai Champions, led by West Indian great Brian Lara, suffered yet another defeat Saturday in the ongoing Indian Cricket League (ICL) Twenty-20 championship. They were beaten by Hyderabad Heroes to finish at the bottom of the table in the six-team event.
The Heroes beat Champs by 25 runs despite good contribution from Vikram Solanki (45 runs, 24 balls) and S Khanolkar (51 runs, 39 balls) for the Champs.
This was the fifth defeat of the Lara-led Champs in the tournament out of the six matches that they played. Lara himself, who had failed to get into double figures in all his earlier appearances in the championship, scored 15 runs off 16 balls.
Hyderabad Heroes, who won the toss, scored 179 runs for the loss of just three wickets in their 20 overs, Pakistani all-rounder Abdul Razzak scoring 67 runs off just 33 balls (seven sixes). New Zealander Chris Harris struck a 32-ball 49 runs.
