UNICEF offers more help to Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal : UNICEF has offered to extend more help to Madhya Pradesh to implement schemes aimed at women and children development, official sources here said.

UNICEF’s South Asia Regional Director Daniel Toole made this offer at a meeting with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here Friday.

He was accompanied by Ginni Murzi, director UNICEF (India), Hamid Al Baseer, state representative and communication officer Anil Gulati.

Chouhan informed the UNICEF delegation about various schemes run by the state for development of women and children such as ‘Janani Suraksha Yojana’, ‘Ladli Laxmi Yojana’, ‘Bal Sanjivani’, ‘Bal Shakti’ and ‘Shaktimaan Yojana’.

Toole congratulated Chouhan for taking the initiatives. He also appreciated the government for the steps taken against female foeticide.

He told the chief minister about UNICEF’s desire to extend more help for the betterment of women and children. The UN Children Fund has been running several schemes for children in Guna and Shivpuri districts in the state.
