Ankara : The Turkish Air Force bombed positions of the outlawed Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) in northern Iraq early Sunday, the Turkish military said.
The warplanes hit PKK targets in regions bordering the Turkish territory as well as in Qandil Mountain, a statement issued by the Turkish General Staff on its Website said.
The Turkish planes bombed the PKK positions in Iraq at 01:00 local time (GMT 2300 Saturday), it said, adding that all planes returned to their bases.
The Turkish military has launched several cross-border attacks recently against separatist PKK rebels, who use northern Iraq as a launch pad for attacks against Turkey.
The PKK has been fighting Turkish military since 1984 for establishing a Kurdish homeland in southeast Turkey.
