Bethlehem : Thousands of Palestinians and tourists gathered at the Manger Square, in the city of Bethlehem, listening to the music of local and international bands as the midnight Christmas Mass approaches.
The concert began with religious and Christmas songs performed by an American choir in association with the members of the Palestinian Youth Orchestra and singers from the international community. Later, an Italian band took the stage and performed popular songs in both Arabic and Italian.
At the beginning to the festivities the mayor of Bethlehem, Dr. Vector Batarssa welcomed the visitors of the city and wished the whole world happy and peaceful Christmas and New Year, he added” Palestinians only wish for justice and peace”.
Across the street at the Nativity Church, the final preparations for the Midnight Mass have just concluded with the arrival of President Mahmoud Abbas and the Latin Patriarch.
