Jammu : Riyaz Punjabi, a senior professor of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi, was Saturday appointed the new vice chancellor of the University of Kashmir.
Jammu and Kashmir Governor S.K. Sinha, who is also the chancellor of the University of Kashmir, appointed Punjabi as the new vice chancellor for a period of three years.
Punjabi teaches in the Centre for the Study of Social Systems at JNU.
He will take over from Abdul Wahid, who has retired three weeks ago, but is continuing till Punjabi joins.
