Ahmedabad : Gurpreet Singh of Indian Army won the junior men’s sports pistol gold medal in the 51st National Rifle/Pistol Championship here Sunday.
Gurpreet shot 576/600 points to win. For second and third place there was a tie shoot between Hambir Singh of Army and Amanpreet Singh of Indian Airlines as both shot 568.
In the tie shoot, Harmbir shot 49/50 to win the silver while Amanpreet shot 45 for the bronze.
Earlier, Sushma Singh of CISF won the first gold medal of the competition, in the women’s sports pistol Saturday. She was placed second in the qualifying round at 576 but in the finals she shot 196.6 to clinch the gold.
Annuraj Singh of Indian Airlines won the silver medal 577+191.9 while Shweta Chaudhary of ONGC won the bronze with 567+196.9.
In the junior women’s sports pistol event, Upasana Parasrampuria of Maharashtra won the gold medal with 565/600. Ruby Tomar of Punjab won the silver medal with 552 and Rahi of Maharashtra clinched the bronze with 549.
