Mumbai : A selection of speeches made by the outstanding parliamentarian and president Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) G.M. Banatwalla in Parliament and earlier in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly at different points of time, has been published by IUML under the title "Select Parliamentary Speeches of G.M. Banatwalla".

"Banatwalla has spoken effectively in the Parliament on a wide range of subjects, providing penetrating insight and deep reflections on crucial national issues. The discussions raised by him in the Lok Sabha have created parliamentary history and have even influenced government policies. Muslim issues, in particular, have received brilliant articulation and projection in their true perspective, clearing misgivings, prejudices and confusion that clog most minds, and drawing affirmative action," said IUML publisher Imran Qureshi in a statement released here Monday.

In his Foreword to the book, P.K. Kunhalikutty says, "He (Banatwalla) has rendered useful services in the Lok Sabha and the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. His contribution towards the welfare of the minorities, particularly Muslims, is great and magnificent."

The arrangement and subject-wise classification of the speeches make for an easy and lively flow of reading. A detailed table of contents adds to the value of the book for frequent reference on the subjects dealt with.

Keeping these characteristics in view, the book, it is hoped, would prove of great value to parliamentarians, legislators, lawyers, social activists, and all those interested in current and especially minority affairs.

Priced at Rs. 350 (Paper Bound) and Rs. 700 (Hard Bound), the 547-page book is available with Olive Publications Ltd., Kozhikode and Adam Publishers & Distributors, New Delhi.
