Iran won a victory on November 15 when Director-General of International Atomic Energy Agency Mohamed El-Baradei verified the civilian nature of Iranian nuclear programme.

Supporters of the president in a statement in the context of the election campaign in the run up to parliamentary election scheduled to be held on March 14 credited the government for the success Iran made to get a clean health bill from IAEA.

Former nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani and European Union Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana last July agreed on a ‘modality plan’ to resolve the outstanding issues between Iran and the UN nuclear agency within two months which led to IAEA verification of P1 and P2 centrifuges.

“The consecutive meetings of Group 5 1 against Iran failed to rally international support thanks to initiatives of the government,” supporters of President Ahmadinejad said in the statement.

The statement hailed President Ahmadinejad for his efforts to set up fuel cycle to provide fuel for nuclear power plants.

Iran Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) has installed 3,000 centrifuges and is carrying out a plan to complete the fuel cycle by installing 56,000 more centrifuges.

Iran has planned to establish eight nuclear power plants with capacity of 1,000 megawatts each by the year 2015 and to pursue a plan to reach self-sufficiency in providing fuel for them.
