New Delhi : India's world No. 1 chess exponent Viswanathan Anand has extended his lead to 23 points, according to the July rating list released Sunday by the sport's world governing body FIDE.
Anand (2,792 rating points) is followed by Russian Vladimir Kramnik (2,769) and Bulgarian Veselin Topalov (2,768). Ukrainian Vassily Ivanchuk (2,762) has advanced to fourth place.
The new list, however, seems to have some problem with the top-30 showing two players named Michael Adams, both of England. This is expected to be corrected by FIDE.
Anand, who became the world's top ranked player in the previous list released in April, gained six points since then.
Kramnik dropped three points while Topalov lost four points during the period.
There are two more Indians in the world's top-50.
Pentala Harikrishna returned to the top-50 bracket after adding 14 points in the last three months. He moved to the 46th place from 58 and now has 2,664 points.
Krishnan Sasikiran, however, slipped from the 25th to the 39th spot after losing 16 points. His rating fell from 2,690 to 2,674.
