Islamabad : At least four soldiers were killed and six injured Wednesday in a roadside explosion in Pakistan's tribal region bordering Afghanistan, officials said.
"A military convoy moving from the town of Bannu to Mir Ali was hit by an improvised explosive device at around 0525 GMT," a senior military officer said on condition of anonymity.
It will be premature to say whether it was a suicide attack, the officer said.
Bannu town is located some 150 km south of the North-West Frontier Province's capital Peshawar.
The attack came in the semi-autonomous North Waziristan tribal district that is thought to be holding bases of Taliban fighters and Al Qaeda elements who fled to the area after US invasion of Afghanistan in 2001.
