Public sector undertaking disputes resolved through negotiations

New Delhi : As many as 133 disputes between various managements and workers' union in the public sector undertaking (PSU) were settled in the quarter ending March 31, this year.

Most of these were arrived through conciliation proceedings by the Central Industrial Relations Machinery (CIRM) under the Industrial Disputes Act. Some of them were resolved through bi-partite negotiations, according to the Labour Bureau.

There were four major settlements involving about 9,000 workers pertaining to Cochin Port Trust, Defence Electronic Laboratory, Hyderabad and Orissa Mineral Development Company Ltd, Thakuran.
